Joyce Mitchell Ordered To Pay $80,000 For Aid In NY Prison Escape

Joyce Mitchell the former prison employee who admitted to aiding in the escape of two convicted murderers in June will pay about $80,000 in restitution.

At a hearing Friday morning, Mitchell agreed to pay the fee and not appeal.
Mitchell, who worked as a tailor shop instructor at Clinton Correctional Facility provided hacksaw blades and other tools to murderers Richard Matt and David Sweat.

Matt was shot dead in a wooded area about 30 miles away from the prison and Sweat was shot and captured two days later. Mitchell was sentenced to 2 to 7 years in prison for her role in the escape.
