Locals take a Polar Plunge for a Good Cause

As many as 15 teams plan to take the plunge, the Polar Plunge, to support Special Olympic athletes.

The fourth annual Special Olympics Polar Plunge is scheduled for this Saturday at Chenango Valley State Park.

Registration begins at 11 a.m. with the first of the plungers hitting the water around 12:30 p.m. This event is conducted by the New York State Special Olympics organization and benefits local students.

Last year the Binghamton Polar Plunge raised over $20,000 with all proceeds helping to fund training and competing of local Special Olympics athletes.
