Owego Lumber Mill gets Investment Grant from NYSEG

By Alex Howard.
It's been about a year and a half since the Wagner Lumber Mill in Owego caught fire in February of 2014. Since then, the company has looked toward rebuilding, while also increasing its own efficiency.

Thanks to a $400,000 grant from New York State Electric and Gas, the new lumber mill is equipped with all LED lighting, while also utilizing new multi gear motors, which saves energy and allows for more efficient log cutting. The upgrades to the Lumber mill will make the plant capable of producing 50 percent more of it's daily lumber output.

The renovations to the lumber mill are anticipated to add an additional dozen full time jobs on top of the 85 full time jobs that currently exist at the plant. Since 2010, NYSEG and RG&E have invested nearly $60 million to help existing businesses expand and to attract new business investments.
