Bearcats have widespread offense

While some teams rely on one dominant player to score the bulk of the points, this year Tommy Dempsey's Bearcats will rely on everyone to contribute as most of the team has proven they can score.

Dusan Perovic was the team's leading scorer a year ago when he suffered a season ending ACL injury, only to be surpassed by Willie Rodriguez at the end of the season. Add to those two Marlon Beck, Romello Walker, Justin McFadden, Bobby Ahearn and newcomers Thomas Bruce and John Schurman and there's no one person for the defense to focus on.

"I don't think we're in a position where we're asking anyone to take on this big scoring load," said Dempsey. "I think we have a lot of guys that can put the ball in the basket, I think we'll do that by committee. I'd like to have four or five guys average in double figures and I think it sets up that way for us."

The Bearcats get their first chance to prove that offensive prowess on Friday in an exhibition against SUNY Cobleskill at 8:00.
