Broome West Senior Center Honors Local Veterans with Luncheon

With Veterans Day just a week away, the Broome West Senior Center is recognizing those who sacrificed their lives to serve their country a little early.

On Wednesday more than 55 veterans, from World War II to Afghanistan vets, were honored at a luncheon held by the center. They received thanks through a free roast pork dinner, a patriotic chorus and raffle prizes to local restaurants.

"It was a privilege to be born in America and it's an honor to serve America in the service. And I'm appreciative of the people here for what they're doing, that they see what we've gone through and are appreciative of it," said Korean War Veteran Roger Faling.

The center has been hosting the lunch annually for more than two decades.
