SUNY Broome Men's Soccer Prepares for Home Playoff Game Wednesday

The Binghamton University men's soccer team is playoff bound for the America East conference after beating UMBC 2-1 on Saturday. But down the road, the SUNY Broome men's soccer team has won five in a row and ready for the NJCAA region 3 semifinals.

The Hornets have won 5 in a row to end the regular season and this group is ready to host Niagra Community College Wednesday at 3:30 pm. Last year in the semis, they lost to Herkimer CC 8-0 and some of those players know how important it is to come out strong in this game.

This team finished 9-9 last year and under the leadership of head coach Chris Riley, coach of the year in the conference, the team has achieved their goal of winning 10 games this season.

Add a few 1st team conference selections to the mix and this team's confidence is sky high.

"When the confidence is high like this, we are a very dangerous team. We are more than ready, we are not over confident, we are not cocky by any means, but we are a confident team who is ready for whatever steps in front of us," said Coach Riley.

"Everyone loves big games. You get the big crowds here, every goal is big, and it just makes it a lot of fun, said Nathan Mansfield, Freshman Forward.

"The past two years here for me have been great. It's been a great time, a great run, but you know we have been playing this game since we were five years old. We trust each other and we know what we have to do out there in order to get the W," said Josh Wlostowksi.

Hornets were supposed to play Hudson Valley CC on Tuesday but it has changed and they will host the 12 seed Thunderducks on Wednesday.
