An Identity Theft Arrest and a Harassment Arrest in the Monday Crime Wrap

Owego Police say the driver involved in a hit-and-run accident in the Village at Front and Court Streets on Sunday morning has come forward.

Police say the driver caused several thousand dollars worth of damage during the incident at 1:20am.

According to the authorities, the car involved is a gray, four-door 2015 KIA Optima. The car was seen driving through the village with no lights on.
the driver then crashed into two utility poles and fled the scene across the bridge.

The driver damaged public property and caused damage to cars passing through the area. Police say the investigation is ongoing.

Also, Chenango County Sheriffs have arrested a Town of Oxford man and charged him with two counts of identity theft. Frank Kriz is accused of opening five lines of credit using other people's information.

And, Michael J. Beckwith of Town of New Berlin has been arrested by Chenago County authorities for resisting arrest and harassment. Sheriffs Deputies were investigating a criminal mischief case in New Berlin. Beckwith then reportedly began making threats toward them. When the deputies attempted to arrest him, he allegedly resisted. He was eventually arrested and sent to Chenango County Correctional Facility.
