An Update on the Thursday Johnson City Abandoned Building Fire

On Thursday night, an abandoned building caught fire in Johnson City.

The blaze was reported at around 7pm and greatly damaged the abandoned facilty next to the UHS facility in Johnson City.

It was also across the street from a legendary restaurant, Brozzetti's. Some employees told us what they saw.

"Flames started on the third floor and then we started seeing them on the second floor. they had them out for quite a while and then it actually caught back on fire about an hour later so they were there most of the night," said Dylon Ballard of Brozzetti's.

A moment that became a challenge to not only those that battled the fire, but those that watched it too.

"I was so worried. I wasn't sure if it was going to explode, or what was going to happen. I didn't know. I wasn't sure if this was going to catch on fire along with it. I wasn't sure if anyone or anything was inside. It was a pretty freaky moment. I was excited to get back to work after that," said Dylon Ballard.

According to police, no one was injured and the fire was contained within the building.

"at least six fire trucks here at one point. i want to thank all the fire departments involved and all the police departments involved. they were a big help," said dylon ballard.

tag: after speaking with the employees, they all said they were safe and able to continue working. back to you frank."
