Restaurant Week Nets $10,000 for Charities

By Fox 40 Staff.
After diners filled up on specials during Binghamton's Restaurant Week, a pair of local charities were able to fill up their coffers.

Friday Restaurant Week organizers donated over $10,000 to the Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse - or CHOW - and the Animal Care Council .
The money raised came from the more than 20,000 meals served during Restaurant Week. This year's Restaurant Week wrapped up on September 24th.

"It's been going on for a decade, they're hoping for it to go on indefinitely. Its a tremendous positive impact on downtown, not just for the city of Binghamton, Which I think is the beating heart of Broome County," said Robert Murphy, Director of Economic Development for the City of Binghamton.

Since it's founding in 2010, Binghamton's Restaurant Week has raised nearly $60,000 in donations to charity partners.
