Can The Tioga Downs Upgrade Help Youth Unemployment?
The staff and patrons of Tioga Downs have a certain glow about them today. The New York State Gaming Facility Location Board has given the group an OK on its plans to upgrade to a full-scale casino.
Fox 40 spoke with Tioga Downs owner Jeff Gural who says that this $100 million plus project will create about 500 to 600 jobs.
He also says it will help stomp out the problem with youth unemployment.
Jeff Gural, Tioga Downs owner says, "This is an opportunity for these guys to get trained at dealing cards and a lot of these jobs require you to stand for a while so I would think that being young in a plus. I think it's good for the whole area, they needed a shot in the arm."
Gural also says Tioga Downs will likely start this hiring after the holidays.
