Schreiber Chocolate Shop Come Back To Binghamton

Posted:
Chocolate's by Leopold returns to the Southern Tier.

A favorite of many since Leopold Schreiber opened his first chocolate store in Binghamton in 1994. He's moved around, but his chocolate stays in customer's hearts.

“He was downtown in Binghamton Metro Center for many years. Before he moved to Montrose, that was just a daily stop for me because I worked downtown. And now it’s awesome to have him back here,” said Binghamton Resident Kevin Sedor.

With three stores open now, including one near the Ground Round in Johnson City, Leopold is able to spread his creation to new customers like Owego chocolate lover Jenny Jacobs.

“I love ginger. And their candy ginger covered in chocolate, I sampled it and it was delicious. So I had to buy it,” said Jacobs.

“The taste of the chocolate, especially the dark chocolate, that’s my favorite. It’s just unbelievable. I mean they can be decent at other places, but none compare to Leopold’s, it's awesome,” said Sedor

Sandra Short, the store's manager, says that the taste comes from decades of experience.

"He’s a master at it. And you can just get that creaminess that you wouldn’t get from any other machine-made product. You can taste the love in it,” said Store Manager Sandra Short.

Hundreds of visitors from this weekend's grand opening seem to agree.

Chocolate's by Leopold is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
