Man who Hit and Killed State Trooper has trial moved

The trial of the man accused of running down New York State Trooper Christopher Skinner has been postponed. 60 year old Almond Upton of Melrose, Florida was originally set to stand trial in November. He is facing a 1st degree murder charge after police say he intentionally killed Trooper Skinner on May 29th of 2014. Authorities say Upton was driving north on interstate 81 in the Town of Chenango when he swerved from the left lane to hit Trooper Skinner who was standing outside his vehicle while conducting a traffic stop. Upton has pleaded not guilty to the charge. Broome County District Attorney Gerald Mollen says an issue with Upton's defense has not been resolved, causing the delay. Mollen says no new date has been set yet. A number of State Troopers were present at court dates last year to support the Skinner family. The head of Troop C has said that support will continue throughout the trial.
