Man Arrested in Walton for Threatening Girlfriend with Gun

By Emily Girsch.
Police blocked off both entrances of the neighborhood on Lower Third Brook Road after they received word that a woman had been threatened by her boyfriend with a gun.

New York state police said that 58-year-old Arthur Veprovsky threatened to kill his girlfriend with a long gun after an argument.

After Veprovsky refused to come out of his home, police sent in a robot to make contact with him.

Veprovsky was taken into custody at 9:30 p.m. and charged with 2nd-degree menacing, a misdemeanor. He was arraigned at the Town of Walton court and taken to the Delaware County Jail with no bail set.

Neighbors last night told me they were concerned for their safety.

"We are very upset that we are right next door and nobody has told us anything and then they come about 7:30, 8:00 I guess it was and they told us we have to leave our homes," said Carlene Kirk, who lives in the neighborhood.

"It's a nice time to come after we've been in danger all day long."

The court issued an order of protection against Veprosky. Police said additional charges are pending.
