The Southern Tier was represented well as part of a group of thousands who has visited Washington.
In fact, they have traveled by bus to the Capitol to discuss the heroin epidemic. Groups from all around the country, including a Binghamton group of 18, are there.
They want funding to end the stigma surrounding heroin addiction.
Penny Stringfield, who helped organize the trip, says; "I mean when you're out here, you see people that are all different demographics as far as age and nationality and I think that this has stopped being a disease that people think happens to other people."
Stringfield lost her son Johnny to heroin last year. This DC get-together featured on-stage celebrities such as Joe Walsh, Steven Tyler and Sheryl Crow.
