Town of Vestal Workers Faced With Possible Layoffs
Thursday, October 1, 2015 6:58 PM EDT
Vestal workers are at risk of layoffs.
This year's tax cap is point 73 percent.
The initial budget submitted last night calls for a 1.5 percent hike.
As he tries to work that number down, Vestal Town Supervisor John Schaffer says layoffs are a possibility.
"Layoffs we really don't want to do but our department heads have been working to cut their budgets down to get them workable and it's not working too well yet," said Schaffer.
A final draft is due on November 20th.
Vestal officials will submit a preliminary budget between now and then.
