Lupardo says green energy will create jobs at forum

By Emily Girsch.
At a smart energy jobs forum this evening in Binghamton, a number of experts spoke on renewable energy.
Among the speakers were members of the Southern Tier Startup Alliance and the Binghamton Regional Sustainability Coalition.
Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo said that Governor Andrew Cuomo's energy plan will benefit both job seekers and the environment.
"We're looking at trying to get to 50 percent of all the energy generated to be from renewables in 15 years," said Lupardo.
"This is a huge opportunity for New York State and places like the Southern Tier."
Though green energy has many critics, Lupardo said putting solar panels on homes and buildings saves money, reduces greenhouse gases, and creates jobs by preventing outsourcing.
