Owego Music Fest Funds Scholarships

People enjoyed some music at the park, while helping future educations.

The first annual OA Foundation Music Fest was held Sunday afternoon at Hickories Park in Owego. Those who attended jammed out to live music performed by local bands like Ultra Vibe and the Falconers. Organizers say while this is the event's first year, they hope to make it a new tradition in the community.

"We did the music fest in particular because nobody really does a music fest down in this direction, so we're hoping to build this into a bigger program, kind of like Blues on the Bridge or something, in the future," said President of Owego Apalachin Foundation for Excellence in Education Janey Sargent, "It's fun, so much fun. Listen to this beat."

Proceeds from the Music Fest will go towards the o-a foundation's educational grants and senior scholarship program.
