A Look At Some Local Arrests And Stories Attached To Them In Crime Wrap

A 32-year-old man from Pitcher, New York has been arrested by Chenango County Sheriffs. They say that they have arrested the man, Joshua Whaley, for burglary and that he was in possession of methamphetamine. It might remind you that in gambling they say the house always wins and the same is true in law enforcement.

Early Sunday morning, Sheriffs in Chenango Forks found a man covered with blood in his vehicle in a ditch at the intersection of Knapp Hill Road and route 12. When the authorities arrived, he fled on foot and was captured. This man, 29-year-old Andrew Hessney, was determined to be the driver. He was sent to Wilson Hospital to be released to the custody of the Sheriff's office later.

State Police in Sidney arrested a 19-year-old Afton man named Stephen Counterman for assault. Police were advised of an assault on campgrounds on State Highway 7. Authorities allege Counterman had a dispute with a 53-year-old man and hit him on the back of the head with a tree branch. The victim was hospitalized.

And, a Greene man, 23-year-old Anthony Torre was cuffed by New York State police in Endwell for aggravated harassment.

This after he was alleged to have made a threatening phone call to his girlfriend and, according to authorities, said he was going to pour gasoline on her and set her on fire. It reportedly happened on September 19th. Torre received a nice trip to the courtroom!
