Sexual Harassment Policy Discussed By Binghamton City Officials
Tonight, officials took part in a review of sexual harassment policy in city of Binghamton.
The city's Employees Committee met tonight to discuss updates to Binghamton's policy including ideas on time frames for issuing reports and the length of time needed for an investigation. All of this is in an effort to strengthen current policy. New ideas also include ways to address fear of retribution for filing a complaint.
Lea Webb, City Councilmember says, "Another piece we've added to the policy is more specificity on training and once we get that, we're gonna talk about it in our next work session and then move forward with our respective city officials to have this adopted."
Webb tells us that one policy update would include requiring city officials to forward complaints of sexual harassment within 48 hours.
