Start-Up NY Business Opens Up About Move to BU

By Jason Weinstein.
A business which is moving onto Binghamton University's campus under the Start-Up NY program says it may deliver more jobs than it has promised the state.

Callsign, inc is an international cybersecurity company that will expand into the Engineering and Science Building on campus. It uses biometrics and other technology to help people and businesses protect digital information more securely than using passwords. Company officials say BU's research into biometrics and other fields made the campus a good fit.

"We came up here a few months back and spent some time at the Watson School with a number of the staff there within the research departments here. We found about five or six areas where there was tremendous collaborative opportunities," said Robert Stout, Vice President of North American Operations at Callsign.

Callsign expects to open on campus by the end of the year. If it it successful in it's pursuit of some contracts over the next few months it could add more than the 38 jobs it has promised the state under the Start-Up NY program.
