Binghamton Mayor Rich David Previews 2016 Budget Address

Mayor David will be addressing the city's financial concerns with the 2016 budget address Tuesday evening.

In the 2015 budget, David says he was able to present the city with only 0.48% in tax increases, one of the lowest residential tax increase in decades. And David says his goal is to continue this tax stability by outlining challenges the city has been facing, such as mismanagement prior to his administrations, and the process to solve it.

“It’s very similar to the message that I delivered last year in the sense that we had very low residential and commercial tax increase. And I’m going to maintain my commitment with regards to tax stability and avoiding wild tax swings, while continuing to move this city forward,” said Mayor David.

David says he also plans to address investments in public safety and infrastructure, as well as plans to create more jobs.

The budget address will be presented Tuesday at 7 p.m. in City Council Chambers. It is open to the public.
