Exchange Street Bridge Reopens

As the summer comes to an end, so does construction on the Exchange Street Bridge.

If you are one of the 10,000 drivers who relied on the bridge to get to work every day, this is good news for you.

Monday, Binghamton Mayor Richard David hosted the reopening of the bridge for traffic. The connection between the South Side and downtown was shut down during this five month long program. The city's upgrades include new concrete and decking, maintenance repairs and a new paint job.

Mayor david says investing in the city's infrastructure is a top priority.

"Whether it's our neighborhood streets, our major arteries, our bridges and our gateways; the purpose is to create an environment more attractive to residents and business owners," said Mayor David.

David said the city spent nearly $3,000,000 upgrading this century-old bridge.
