Golfers Take to the Links to Raise Money for Broome-Tioga Special Olympics
Off to the links, golfers brought out their clubs to compete in a golf tournament Sunday afternoon.
More than 90 people took to the greens at the Links at Hiawatha Landing in a captain and crew style tournament. Trophies were awarded to participants who were atop the scoreboard. This was all to raise money towards the Broome-Tioga Special Olympics program.
"Our funds have been running down year after year. We keep getting lower on funds. So we thought we would do a fundraiser as a golf tournament for Special Olympics," said tournament director Tim Herron.
"We can go out of town and compete with different people making more new friends," said participant Brandy Bush, who is a Women's National 9-Hole Independent Player.
Proceeds from Sunday's tournament will go directly towards the Broome-Tioga Special Olympics organization in support of athlete development, competitions, equipment and uniforms.
