Owego Fire Department Holds 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony
In Owego Friday, the fire department held a remembrance ceremony at Baker Memorial Fountain for the 412 emergency responders that perished that day.
The ceremony featured taps, bagpipes and a color guard, centered around the fountain dedicated to all the volunteer fireman of the village that have served since 1928.
John Hitchings with the Owego Fire Police said, "It has some meaning to me, in that way, like everybody says, you remember what you did that day, where it was, what happened. You'll never forget it, I hope we never forget it."
The ceremony featured a priest, who spoke about a member of his congregation who died while working on the 93rd floor in one of the World Trade Centers on September 11th.
