Challenger for Vestal Supervisor Speaks Out

By Jason Weinstein.
The Republican challenger for Vestal Town Supervisor made his candidacy official Tuesday.

William Kelley, owner of Kelley Marine in Endicott, spoke publicly about his candidacy today. he is a 20-year air force veteran who has spent the past decade as a State Department contractor, training police forces in Afghanistan. Kelley says codes in Vestal are outdated and not business friendly.

He would like to see lower fees for those who want to put their property to good use while more strictly enforcing codes on those who are letting property fall into disrepair.

"I think I could bring a new voice to Vestal. I think Vestonians are pretty tired of the status quo going on and I feel we need change in the Town of Vestal, and I'm the person who's going to bring it to them," said Kelley.

Kelley will take on incumbent Democrat John Schaffer, who is finishing his first term as Supervisor. Schaffer served six years on the Town Board before becoming Supervisor.
