Fatal Motorcycle Accident in Town of Chenango Rocks Neighborhood

Posted:
At around 1:46 this morning, Broome County Sheriffs responded to several 911 call about a motorcycle accident on castle creek road in Town of Chenango.

When deputies arrived, they were unable to initially locate the driver. After a brief search, he was found in thick brush a short distance away from his wrecked bike.

He was identified as 30-year-old Eric Mettler of Chenango Bridge, said to be an Iraq War Veteran.

The investigation revealed that his motorcycle lost control, struck a guardrail, went airborne and ended up stuck in a nearby fence. Mettler was ejected. Those who were near the accident scene are still rocked by what they saw.

"I come rushing out, along with my son, because we thought it was hitting the house. And we found this motorcycle banged up in our fence. And we looked for the guy," said Town of Chenango Resident Norman Webb, "God rest his soul."

Castle Creek Road had one lane shut down for around three hours during the investigation.
