Tips for Labor Day Travel

By Fox 40 Staff.
More than 35 million Americans will be travelling this Labor Day weekend to send off the Summer, that according to AAA.

With 85 percent of people making that trip by car officials say there are some things you can do to better prepare yourself. Check all of your vehicles lights and tire pressure.

Officials also say that you should give yourself a little extra time for travel and watch out for other drivers. Gas prices are also making traveling easier on many. They're down a about a dollar per gallon compared to last year.

President of AAA Southern New York Richard Jacobs said, "I think that's encouraging some people to get out and take a quick trip that they may not have taken. It's a savings of anywhere from $10 to $20 dollars."

According to gasbuddy.com gas prices in New York average $2.60 per gallon.
