Governor Cuomo Pushes For Review of The Common Core Standards
Governor Andrew Cuomo said he is calling for a comprehensive review of the implementation of the Common Core Standards.
This includes curriculum, guidance and tests. Cuomo said the implementation of The Common Core by the State's Department of Education was flawed. He says he will ask a group which includes parents and teachers to make recommendations.
Cuomo says he will announce those recommendations at his State of the State Address in January.
In a statement released this afternoon on The Common Core, Assembly Speaker Carl Heatie said, "we look forward to working with the governor and all of our partners in education...to improve the enforcement of these standards."
