Three Women Arrested for Gang Assault in Union

Three women have been arrested after an alleged gang assault of another woman in the Town of Union.

Broome County Sherriff's Office arrested 48-year-old Emily Baleno of Endwell, 50-year-old Marie Newkirk of Port Crane and 41-year-old Bridgette Bensley of Endicott.

Detectives say the three confronted a 59-year-old woman who was leaving a local business. The Sherriff's Office says the suspects then began to assault and attack her, knocking her to the ground. They say the victim was kicked and punched in and around her face and head causing serious physical injury and extensive dental damage.

Baleno, Newkirk and Bensley were charged with one count of felony Gang Assault in the 1st degree.

All three suspects have been arraigned in local criminal courts and have been released to appear in court at a later date.
