Sauers, Goydos share lead after first round of DSGO

In the first round of any golf tournament, the leaderboard is wide open and anyone can claim the lead. The pairings are a random draw, so it's odd that no one in the first several groups of Round One at the Dick's Sporting Goods Open seemed to want the top spot.

It took until the afternoon for Gene Sauers and Paul Goydos to own a share of the lead at (-6). Both had a chance to own the lead outright with birdie putts on 18, but both tapped in for par.

John Huston, 2011 DSGO Champ, and Ian Woosnam are right behind the leaders at (-5) with six others including 2012 champ Willie Wood tied for 5th at (-4).

Early on in the day Champions Tour rookie seemed to be headed for an impressive lead. He was 5-under after 10 before a bogey on 12. But that he made up by birdieing 13. However, bogeys on 14, 17, and 18 erased his once dominant lead and sees him tied for 21st at (-2).

Defending champ Bernhard Langer isn't out of the mix yet, but has an uphill climb ahead of him. He's (-1) thanks to a birdie on 18. Also tied with Langer at 29th, 2013 champ Bart Bryant and Horseheads native Joey Sindelar.

Sindelar who hasn't faired overly well the last few years at his home course was 3-under at the the turn thanks to a 20 foot putt for birdie on 9. But he followed that up immediately with a double bogey on ten and finished (-1).
