Langer keeps his caddy in the family

Defending Dick's Sporting Goods Open Champ Bernhard Langer will look to become the first back-to-back winner in tournament history. While he'll have a different caddy this year, he's making sure the weekend is still a family affair.

In 2014, Langer's daughter Christina was on the bag for the DSGO and his win was her first victory as a caddy. But, after undergoing multiple back surgeries since then, she's unable to caddy for him again this year. Instead, his oldest son Stefan will take over, having had multiple wins on tour with father.

Bernhard assures us that Stefan's decision to take vacation time from his full time job in New York was a matter of convenience and not sibling rivalry trying to regain the win that Christina picked up last year.

"Nothing to do with that at all," he says with a smile. "No, he's working, he's got a full time job and it just turned out that this would be convenient since he works in New York so it's a short drive over here and he can just take today and tomorrow off and it's not too much vacation time. So, it's more of a convenience than anything else."

Langer tees off at 1:27 for Friday's first round. He's paired with Jeff Maggert and John Cook.
