Southern Tier Golf Event Benefits Wounded Warrior Project

The Golden Oak Golf Course this morning was filled with red, white and blue as American pride flew high on the beautiful green landscape in Windsor.

World War II veteran Al Rood played taps to kick off the second annual Captain and Crew Tournament to benefit the Wounded Warriors project.

Citizens planes flew over the course and the B.C. Celtic performed patriotic pieces.

Organizer Bob King, whose father and brother were service members says this is his way to show gratitude.

"I tried to join the Navy, they wouldn't take me. I tried to join the Army, they wouldn't take me. So I thought, hey this is how I can help," said Benefit Organizer Bob King, "It means everything to me, just everything."

Proceeds will go towards the Wounded Warriors Project's mission to create a positive, lasting impact on the lives of injured service members.
