Town of Union Looks At Bid From Firefighting Groups
The Johnson City Firefighters Association has been asking for the support of area residents.
At a meeting tonight, the group expressed dismay that another fire department could take parts of its territory and had placed a bid with the Town of Union.
Currently Town of Union leaders are looking at the Johnson City fire fighting group as well as a group out of Endwell.
Town of Union Supervisor Rose Sotak says the local board is looking at safety first. She says that issues such as response time and manpower actually trump the dollar amount when it comes to the pick for fire-fighters. Town of Union officials plan a work session to address the issue. According to Sotak, the work session will likely be on August 12th.
