Mase Madness Tournament Set for Tip-Off

The Mase Madness Basketball Tournament in Johnson City is back for it's 4th year this weekend....

The tournament remembers the life of Mason McKan whose life was cut short due to SIDS at six and a half months. 36 teams have filled 5 divisions to compete for a championship at the Johnson City Middle School. The games will be played over 3 days from August 7-9.

"This year is his 4th birthday. It's our 4th tournament, kind of like our chance to celebrate his life and make sure that we keep him relevant. Summer time is a fun time and it goes very fast because all we do is plan but then it is beautiful to watch it all happen," said Kate McKan, Mason's Mother.

Last year's event helped raise over 12 thousand dollars for the Mason P. McKan Benevolence Fund to assist under privileged children with scholarships to pursue their dreams of athletic and personal success.
