Floral Gallery Hosts "Secret" Garden Party

A local business is promoting sustainable gardening with a party in a "secret" spot.

Sunday, the Renaissance Floral Gallery held a Secret Garden Party at their Johnson City shop location.
The locally owned and operated business produces a variety of plants in their "secret garden" backyard.

More than 30 people attended the event which included activities like recycling used vases, baskets and pots, tasting garden-themed hors d'oeuvres and beverages, and learning to make floral arrangements.

"It really was designed to sort of enhance the growing atmosphere that we have here, but also to encourage people on their own to get back into gardening; to get back into gardening and to really appreciate what Binghamton has to offer," said Owner and Operator of Renaissance Floral Gallery Ken Havenstein.

Owners say they would like to continue a series of events like this throughout the summer.

The shop is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
