Community Celebrates St. Cyril's Church Parish FestivalPosted:
St. Cyril's Church in Binghamton held their 19th annual Parish Festival.
The event drew thousands of local residents who enjoyed things like chicken BBQ, ice cream and cant forget the ethnic foods like perogies and halupki. There were also games.
Organizers say they're thankful for the outcome of the event.
"I am overwhelmed with the amount of people that showed and the weather. Because the weather forecast, as you know, earlier in the week was not good for Sunday and when I woke up this morning, it was 5 o' clock and I was in tears because it was lightning and thundering. I thought, 'Oh, all this hard work.' And it really came through for us," said Coordinator of St. Cyril's Festival Rita Christopher.
Last year's event brought in more than $20,000 and organizers say this year's turnout was their largest yet.
The church will host a Halupki Open Golf Tournament fundraiser in August.
