Mayor Rich David Honors Indian Culture

Binghamton Mayor Rich David is acknowledging a unique language
during a visit to the India Cultural Center in Vestal.

Saturday, the mayor gave a proclamation letter marking today as Sanskrit Day in the City of Binghamton as dozens came out to the Center to listen to guest speakers talk about the language.

Officials claim Sanskrit is one of the first ancient languages spoken in India.
They also say the dialect is a foundation for language in countries around the world.

"The Sanskrit language is a history. It shows how people lived in the past, thousands of years ago, and it shows that culture," said Author of "Sanskrit is the Mother of All Languages" said author of "Sanskrit is the Mother of All Languages" Niranjan Shah.

Everyone who attended was given a free copy of a book about the language.
The India Cultural Center will host India Day 2015 in August.
