Republican Denver Jones Announces Bid for NYS Senate
Saturday, July 25, 2015 10:23 PM EDT
Former Senator Tom Libous' Senate seat is now open and candidates are announcing their campaigns.
Saturday, Republican candidate Denver Jones announced he will make a bid in a special election in November for the vacant 52nd district New York Senate seat.
The announcement comes after former Senator Tom Libous has been removed from office after his felony conviction for lying to the FBI.
Jones claims he's fit for the job stating, "It is certain that the people of Broome, Chenango, Delaware and Tioga counties will not have to worry about corruption with me in office."
Thursday, Governor Andrew Cuomo said in a radio interview that former Broome County Executive and former DMV Commissioner Barbara Fiala should run for the position.
Again that special election will be held this November.
