Cuomo Endorses Fiala as Replacement for Libous in Senate
With Tom Libous removed from office after his felony conviction yesterday for lying to the FBI, Governor Cuomo is weighing in on who he believes should succeed him.
On the Capitol Pressroom radio show this morning Cuomo endorsed former Broome County Executive and his former DMV Commissioner Barbara Fiala. Fiala says she is honored by the Governor's endorsement and is meeting with her team to move forward with a run.
"I was County Clerk for seven years, County Executive for another seven, I spent four years in Albany. I bring a service record to knowing both the local area well and also Albany," said Fiala
Fiala says her priorities would be bringing economic development to the Southern Tier and ethics reform to the state. she says she hopes her strong working relationship with Governor Cuomo continues.
