A New York state corrections officer is facing attempted murder charges after police say unlawfully fired a weapon early this morning.
Norwich police arrested 33-year-old Wayne Spratley just before 3:30 Sunday morning.
Norwich police responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Lackawanna Avenue where a victim was later found in a parking lot. Police say the victim suffered from a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was transported to Upstate Hospital in Syracuse.
The name of the victim has not been released and is said to be in critical condition.
Spratley is facing 2nd degree attempted murder charges. He was arraigned in the Chenango County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
