Upstate residents feel better about the economy today than they did this same time last year.
But the latest Siena research shows we are still trailing behind the rest of the country...by over 14 points. However, the findings were not all gloomy. Upstate residents are more upbeat than their downstate counterparts when it comes to the current state of business and job conditions.
"It's very unusual for Upstaters to have a higher consumer level than the New York City area and in general, urban areas have higher confidence levels than rural areas." said Siena Researcher, Doug Lonnstrom.
The survey found a growing number of New Yorkers are worried about the rising costs of gas and food.
