Johnson City Warehouse Proposed for Medical Marijuana Production Facility

Legalizing medical marijuana in New York could bring as many as 200 new jobs to the Tier and new research for Binghamton University's future School of Pharmacy.

That's if a Syracuse-based company's plan gets state approval.
Salus Scientific is eyeing this warehouse in Johnson City as a production facility. Another site in Vestal would become a dispensary.

And BU's new pharmacy school would be used for research and development.

"I believe that this collaboration would be very positive for the school of pharmacy, I think its exciting to have a facility that could be close by. I think it will benefit the research efforts in the school, therefore benefiting my faculty, my staff, my students," said Gloria Meredith, Dean of Binghamton University School of Pharmacy.

Salus could find out as soon as next week if New York approved the plan.

43 businesses are vying for five licenses.

We'll let you know who won as soon as the decision is made public.
