Tioga County Fair Kicks Off

The Tioga County fair is now underway. Fairgrounds opened up Tuesday in Owego with their annual horse races. On Tuesday fairgoers were admitted free of charge. The Tioga County Fair is known as the oldest fair in New York State and serves as a staple for the local economy. Fair rides will be open starting Wednesday. General admission is just 5-dollars. Children under 5 are free.
Organizers say opening day was all about the livestock.

Tioga County Fair Board Member Jonathan Marks said, "We're basically an agricultural society and economy in Tioga County. So this gives the farmers an opportunity to display their wares to show what we don't see throughout the year."
