Prison Escapee David Sweat Out of Hospital, Back Behind Bars
David Sweat is out of the hospital.
The New York State Department of Corrections and Community supervision announces Sweat was released from Albany Medical Center just after 3:00 Sunday morning. Sweat was taken to Five Points Correctional Facility -- a maximum-security prison -- in Romulus, New York. Police say Sweat will remain in the prison's infirmary under 24 hour supervision.
After he's discharged from there, police say sweat will be housed in a single-cell for 23 hours of confinement per day, he'll also be placed under active suicide watch.
David Sweat and Richard Matt both escaped from the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora nearly one month ago.
Sweat is serving a life sentence for the death of Broome County Sheriff's Deputy, Kevin Tarsia 13 years ago.
