Vestal Celebrates 4th with "Mini" Parade

Posted:
.Approximately 20 residents of Edward Street in Vestal participated in the street's 5th annual Fourth of July parade.

The parade takes place on only the length of the street, making it less than a half mile long. Organizers say they believe this may be the shortest Fourth of July parade in the nation.

Hundreds of American flags lined the street, a Grand Marshall lead, there was a princess and even prizes for best decorations.

"The Fourth of July, just don't want to lose sight of our freedom in this country and what it's all about, so it's a celebration of our independence. It's a small parade, but it has a great significance," said Organizer of Edward Street Parade Dawn White.

Organizers say they plan to continue the event each year and hope to increase neighborhood involvement.
