Business Owners in Northern Broome Pitch Their Ideas For Economic Development

The Southern Tier is gearing up for the competition to win 500 million dollars in the Upstate Revitalization competition.

On Thursday night business owners in northern Broome were invited to pitch their economic development ideas to officials at the Town of Triangle Municipal Building in Whitney Point. The owners had a chance to discuss their ideas with a representative of the Southern Tier Economical Development Council, which will make the final pitch to state officials. The Mayor of Whitney Point wants to be sure people in northern Broome are included in the chance to win the lottery of economic development.

Mayor of the Village of Whitney Point, Ryan Reynolds said, "They kind of feel left out and secluded because a lot happens in Binghamton, Endicott and Vestal. So things like this are to try and get Northern Broome and local business owners to find out what's out there, and what's available to them."

The Southern Tier has to submit their plan by the end of this month. Three of the eleven regions in New York State will be awarded 500 million dollars for economic development.
