Binghamton University Nationally Recognized

Binghamton University is one of 18 universities in the country to be named an Innovation and Economic Prosperity University.

The Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities recognized BU based on community engagement, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

President Harvey Stenger says that this should help give our area an advantage in the Upstate Revitalization Competition.

The three upstate regions that make the most compelling arguments will be designated as best plan awardees and receive $500 million dollars towards projects identified by the Regional Economic Development Councils.

Binghamton University President Harvey Stenger said, "We've been doing a great job in the city of Binghamton expanding some of the business opportunities there. So verifying through a process that the things that you have been doing are the kinds of things other universities are doing puts you in that same class recognizes you as unique."

Some of the other universities to receive this recognition include the University of Arizona, Ohio University and Utah State University.

Binghamton University is the only university to be selected in the state of New York.
