Free Fishing Weekend Kicks Off Throughout New York State

No fishing license? Well, this weekend, that's not a problem.

Saturday, fishers of all ages took out their fishing poles to enjoy New York State's Free Fishing Weekend.

According to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, anyone can fish in the state's waters this weekend -- no license required.
The weekend is part of the State's Open for Fishing and Hunting Initiative to improve recreational opportunities and boost tourism throughout the state.

"It's a great thing, I've come up to New York State since I was a little kid and came fishing with my grandpa. So I've came since I was a little kid. And I think what he told me is that you cant fish now without a license after you're 16, so I haven't in a while, so it's been good to come back out here and do it again," said Oswego, Illinois Resident Trevor Jones.

You're allowed to fish anybody of water within New York State.
And If you didn't make it out Saturday, grab your pole and some bait, the free fishing weekend continues Sunday.
