FEMA Approves Additional Funding for Joint Sewage Treatment Plant Repairs
The Binghamton-Johnson City Joint Sewage Treatment plant is receiving extra funding for repairs.
Friday, Senator Chuck Schumer announced FEMA's approval of an additional $563,000 toward the project bringing the total allotted funding to more than $1.6 million.
The facility faced extensive damages after significant flooding back in June and July of 2006.
Originally FEMA approved more than $1 for repairs but an administrative error resulted in an incorrect deduction of $563,000. Sewage plant officials appealed and FEMA then approved the additional funding.
