Colors of Freedom Run to Return to Highland Park

By Fox 40 Staff.
It's back for a second year! Highland Park will host the Colors of Freedom walk/run on the Fourth of July in the Town of Union.

The race will begin at 9 am on Saturday July 4th. The town is promising more spraying of red and blue powder for this year's event. Proceeds from the run will benefit the Southern Tier Veterans Support Group.

"It's a great way to kick off the 4th of July. It's really what it is all about. I think it's nice when you see them leading the colors and you see the different people from the different organizations that are here. You will see some of the military people in the their uniforms and it truly is nice for our young people," said Rose Sotak, Town of Union Supervisor.

Each participant will write the name of an active service member or veteran on their shirt as a way to honor them during the run.
